Format mainly affects whether the dose gets eaten reliably day after day, which matters because joint-support ingredients are cumulative, not one-and-done.
  • Probiotics: These are the most format-sensitive of the common categories, because live organisms can be damaged by the heat and moisture involved in baking a soft chew. A dry, pressed tablet or capsule generally has an easier path to preserving colony-forming units than a moist chew does, though manufacturer-specific processing (and third-party viability testing) matters more than the chew-versus-tablet label alone.
